Bachmann officially endorses Romney

bachmann podiumCongresswoman Michele Bachmann officially announced her endorsement of Mitt Romney at a Virginia campaign event on Thursday.

"This November, Americans will be at the polls with a serious choice- they can vote for more of Barack Obama's transformation of America, with more joblessness, higher energy prices, fewer opportunities for our children, more government controls, bailouts, and failed economic policies, or they can vote for a new vision of prosperity and liberty,” Bachmann said in a statement. “I'm honored to announce that today, I am endorsing Governor Mitt Romney for President of the United States, a man who will preserve the American dream of prosperity and liberty.”

Dayton with Bakk and ThissenFollowing his Tuesday afternoon press conference with DFL legislative leaders and Minneapolis Mayor R.T.Rybak, Gov. Mark Dayton’s office released a video with a request to the general public: Call your legislators and tell them to vote on the Vikings stadium proposal on the table.

“I would ask Minnesotans to call their legislators and say, ‘Quit fooling around,’ “ said Dayton. “This is not about politics for November, and it’s not about your jobs for November. Its about our jobs, its about our future, its about our team.”

Vikings Stadium drawing via teamAfter being identified as “still breathing” by Gov. Dayton, the Vikings stadium bill is still lingering at the Capitol awaiting a vote by both the House and Senate.

Lawmakers from both sides of the aisle are working on ways to bring the legislation to a vote before the 2012 session ends.

Dayton signs 40 bills, vetoes 6 in busy week at Capitol

While legislators were busy last week passing legislation through both chambers, Gov. Dayton wrapped up a busy week signing and vetoing bills in what may be the final full week of the 2012 legislative session.

Just last week, the governor signed 40 bills into law, including several key bills in the area of public safety and corrections, veterans affairs, as well as legislation allowing the sale sale of alcohol at TCF Bank Stadium on the University of Minnesota campus.

Dayton holds bipartisan signing ceremony for HHS omnibus bill

HHS signing ceremonyOn Monday, Gov. Mark Dayton held a signing ceremony for the Health and Human Services (HHS) omnibus budget bill that was signed late last week.

Several key legislators who influenced the legislation were in attenedence for the ceremony for HF 2294, including respective HHS chairmen Rep. Jim Abeler (R-Anoka), Rep. Steve Gottwalt (R-St. Cloud), Sen. David Hann (R-Eden Prairie), and others.
